The Volunteer Services Council for Border Region MHMR Community Center is a private non-profit organization that renders assistance to individuals with mental illness or mental retardation. This Council, one of twenty-seven located within the State of Texas, is dedicated specifically to serving Laredo and surrounding areas. The Council raises funds for items that the state cannot provide, such as pharmaceutical needs, food, clothing, entertainment, housing, family visitations, and Special Olympics.

Although Border Region MHMR Community Center is a state funded agency, none of the funds used by the Volunteer Services Council are obtained through the State, as the Council is a separate entity from the Center. We rely solely on the generosity of businesses and the community at large.
