The CSU is a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit servicing adults ages 18 and over and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The CSU is available to patients within our 4-county catchment area, Jim Hogg County, Starr County, Webb County and Zapata County. The primary objective of CSU is crisis stabilization and resolution for the patient. Our well-trained staff assists patients in crisis, through assessments and evaluations to determine the most suitable care plan for recovery. The length of stay is determined by the patient’s needs and can be as little as a few hours or as long as 14 days.

Services Offered
Psychiatric Evaluation
A licensed Psychiatrist conducts a comprehensive assessment via telehealth to determine diagnosis and guide treatment
Daily visits with the Physician/Nurse Practitioner
Patients meet with a provider daily to monitor mental health progress and adjust care as needed
Medication Management
Medications are adjusted as needed to ensure they are helping the patient safely and effectively
24 Hour Monitoring
Trained staff provide around-the-clock supervision to ensure patient safety and support
Individualized Treatment Plan of Care
Each patient receives a treatment plan personalized to their specific needs and recovery goals
Case Management
A Case Manager works with each patient to coordinate care, offer support, and connect them with community resources based on their needs. The Case Manager will provide appointments for aftercare services based on the patient’s choice
Skills Training
Patients are taught effective coping skills that may help manage stress, depression, and anxiety
Individual Counseling
Patients are provided with one-to-one therapy sessions with a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (License Professional Counselor, Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker) to help patients process emotions, build insight, and promote healing
Daily Program Activities
Patients may participate in daily group activities to promote a sense of routine and purpose
Referrals for Identified and Individualized Needs
Patients are connected with community resources in their area based on their specific needs and provided with referrals upon discharge for continuation of care
Discharge Planning
The CSU team will coordinate with the patient on a discharge plan that ensures a smooth transition for outpatient services to continue addressing any mental health needs
